I am very upset with Planet Fitness because I saw a charge of $31 on my bank account and I didn't even know it was reopening. They say they sent out emails but they have my number. They could have just as easily called or texted me. I wasn't even thinking about going back to the gym. During this pandemic, you wouldn't catch me in there with a hazmat suit! And since I'm not working now, that $31 could have gone toward food or something I actually use! And why the no refund policy? That seems a bit fraudulent to me. And if that isn't enough, I have to either go in to Planet Fitness or go to the post office to send through certifiable mail a request to cancel my membership! I just think the whole situation was handled quite poorly and I will be warning everyone on every platform to beware of ever joining Planet Fitness!

Walked in to Planet Fitness in February to cancel membership and was told I needed to do that online.
I got online, and it only let's you change level of membership- not cancel. Of course, went back in person but gym was closed from covid-19. At that point, app was not letting me access any changes since they were temporarily not billing due to covid. Fast forward to July 17, I get $23 monthly fee out of bank account. Then 2 weeks later, Aug 3, another $43 deduction for annual fees. I called gym stating my annual renewal date was in April and I've been trying to cancel membership since before then as to avoid the fee. But was told theres nothing they can do about it. I was very upset about $66 out if my bank account within a 2 week period, for something I was unable to cancel or contact for 3 months because they were closed. However then,"since I was upset and so they could accommodate me, the girl said she COULD go ahead and cancel my membership". But I thought I had to come in to do that?
The take away is, Apparently they give you the run around to not let you cancel, so you keep getting billed. Yet can adjust the policy when convenient to them. If course, any refund is "out of their hands and "per contract" the annual maintenance fee cannot be refunded. Despite my efforts the past 6 months to avoid this situation. And, there have been no correspondence stating when billing was to resume after closing for covid. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Unscrupulous billing practices!

Planet Fitness is one of the worst gyms to ever get involved with. The facilities are decent but their billing practices are unethical at best and their customer service is non-existent. This is a money trap. You can sign up online but you have to cancel in person or via certified mail. Beware.

I’m a PF fan!

Truly love that cardio machines are readily available all the time. My schedule is rigid so I greatly benefit from the 24 hour locations! So far it’s been really clean. I’m hopeful it stays this way????????

Suggestions for Improvements for the club!

I would like the rest rooms to have toilet seat covers. It would be better if you had paper towel dispensers throughout the club. It would even be better if you would have disposable disinfectant wipes instead of paper towels, too many people handle the spray bottles. Plus not having an elevator to the upper level limits the use of the equipment for disabled people.

Cheapest equipment I’ve ever seen.

I had no idea cardio equipment could be so cheaply made.
Hands down the worst equipment I’ve seen in 25 years.
Should have toured the facilities before joining, but again, I had no idea cardio equipment could be so poorly made.
This place is so horrible I am going to pay for a membership elsewhere even though I am locked into a contract for 1 year here.
Also forgot to mention 3 of the 4 machines weren’t working properly, I couldn’t select the workout type which is one of the few customization options for workouts.

Unprofessional, Poor Communication, and Subpar Billing Practices!

I went to the Tigard Planet Fitness to join on May 12th, which was the last day to take advantage of a one free month offer they were advertising for new members. I was notified by the front desk staff that they would not accept my corporate credit card to use for payment of the monthly membership fee but rather they will ONLY accept checking account information for debiting these payments. This makes it impossible for my corporate membership. This also puts members at a disadvantage in the event of a billing dispute as the only way to prevent PF from debiting the dues/fees from your checking account is to close your account and reopen a new one. While the people at the front desk are nice enough, they have no interest in offering a resolution but merely pass you off to an 800 number. After numerous different referrals to different 800 numbers, multiple departments within each number and ultimately having to send an email to contact their billing department, I learned PF has no interest in working with customer needs to gain a new customer. It seems the "You Belong" should actually be "You Belong so long as you do just what we tell you to do". Be aware, it is actually a third party company that handles their billing and each department you speak to simply blames the other for their inability to work with a customer's need. It is just a ridicules runaround. Who has time to deal with this BS? Save yourself the trouble and deal with a gym who is professional and has years of experience with billing. One thing to keep in mind, companies are getting hacked on a daily basis. As such, wouldn't you rather a have a credit card to close and reissue than deal with your checking account exposed to NSF Fees, overdrafts, fraudulent debits? Remember, when you are dealing with PF at least two companies have your banking information. Double the opportunity for theft. Just something to think about if you are a business owner considering joining. LA Fitness and 24 Hour accept credit card payments without the hassle!

Membership

You have to register your guest even with a black card membership. Which they deserve a courtesy. Total embarrassing for the guest makes the guests feel out of place. Never again.

Love my (Mableton

Love my (Mableton, GA) location, the staff (whom I've come to know very well), the equipment, and the other members who push me to become a healthier, stronger, and more fit "me".

DO NOT USE THIS GYM

Review specifically for corporate Planet Fitness. DO NOT USE THIS GYM!!!!! Even in the middle of a pandemic with cases and deaths rising these leeches are using pre Covid policies prioritizing profits over customer health and safety. Does not allow you to cancel over the phone and will be VERY rude and dismissive if you call asking for information about how they’re adjusting policy for the CDC Covid Guidelines. Horrible customer service, seems like they do not care about the pandemic at all. Very unsafe would not be surprised if it was run by anti maskers with how flippant they were about asking Covid questions. DO NOT USE

They charge your card without knowing. Then don't refund it. Even also they will damage your credit rating. What a disappointment.
